As a painter my interests are the balance of abstract forms and kinetic paint application and how this balance creates a story within the picture space. Beginning my process I imagine a theme, character or aspect of movement I want to express and use kinetic improvisation to choreograph the painting. I use the qualities of paint to create these compositions in gesture, colour and form onto the canvas surface. The resulting works possess dual characteristics as they are; traces of live movement, captured and compressed in time and space; and the projection of an embodied character, quality or mood.
